Double Down Real Estate is a veteran-owned and -operated real estate company that is rooted in the idea that tough teams can solve tough problems – while making it simple for our partners.
Our Story
Kelly and Luke met as roommates at West Point, and quickly developed a close friendship, rooted in the values of professionalism, integrity and taking care of those around them. Although their military assignments would take them to different locations, the two stayed close and grew together as Army leaders. During a "Friendsgiving" in 2018, Kelly and Luke found that they had both discovered a strong desire to build something of their own and run it in keeping with their personal values. Two months later, the pair began the groundwork for what would become Double Down Real Estate.
Today, our company is focused on adding value for our partners through hard work, comprehensive diligence, and transparent dealings. As we continue to grow in the Colorado Springs area, we look forward to expanding our network of other like-minded professionals, while delivering on our commitments to our partners.
The Founders
Luke Brunea
Analytics
A native of New York State, Luke felt called toward military service since witnessing the 9/11 attacks as a child. Luke enlisted in the U.S. Army at age 18, and was deployed to combat operations in Afghanistan from 2009-2010. After serving 4 years as an enlisted soldier and earning the rank of Sergeant, Luke gained admission to West Point and graduated alongside Kelly in 2015.
Although an injury cut his service short, Luke’s military leadership experiences served him well in planning, supervisory and executional roles out of uniform. As a member of the Double Down team, Luke focuses on analytics, partnership-building, and finding ways to "make the numbers work" for mutually beneficial outcomes.
Luke left Colorado in 2021 to pursue his MBA at the University of Chicago Booth School of Business. He looks forward to returning to the Front Range in 2023!
Kelly Walsh
Operations
Growing up, Kelly gained early exposure to the real estate space from his father, Shawn, who owns and operates a construction business that he built from the ground up. By including Kelly in his many projects, Shawn not only taught his son what it took to turn a property around – he also imparted to him his strong work ethic and sense of dedication to his team and his partners.
These values helped Kelly enter West Point and were central to the way he has led his troops since graduating in 2015. Kelly believes in shooting straight with people, taking care of his team, simplifying challenges, and solving problems the right way.
Kelly lives in Colorado Springs with his wife and is a licensed realtor in the State of Colorado.
